Findlay Barbell on Patreon

What the Findlay Barbell Patreon Is All About

If you’ve been around the gym lately, you’ve probably heard me mention the Patreon page. I wanted to take a minute to actually explain what it is and how it works, because it’s something I’ve been building out and I think a lot of you will find it useful.

The short version is this — the Findlay Barbell Patreon is where I put the programming. Real structured programs, built by a strength and conditioning coach who actually trains in the same gym you do.

The way it works is pretty straightforward. The programs are on the Patreon, and every exercise in those programs links directly to a video of that movement being performed right here at Findlay Barbell. No stock footage, no random gym somewhere else. You’re seeing the actual equipment you’re using, in the actual space you’re training in. That was intentional. I wanted it to feel like having a coach in the room with you, not just a PDF you downloaded off the internet.

This started as something I called Black Belt Strength, which was more broadly focused on programming and coaching. Over time it made more sense to bring it under the Findlay Barbell name and make it about the people who are actually here — members who want a program to follow, and people who are training on their own and want something put together by someone who knows what they’re doing.

There’s also an app in the works that will tie all of this together in one place. More on that when it’s ready.

For now, if you want to check it out, the Patreon is Findlay Barbell. You can find it at the bottom of this website under the Find More from Findlay Barbell section. Take a look and see if it’s something that makes sense for where you’re at with your training.

FBB Blog - Tuesday, March 3rd

Couple of new items over the past week or so to talk about:

First, a couple of new slam balls! I will not name names, but we may have had some complaints from members with more delicate fingers. We aim to please here at Findlay Barbell, so we have a new 15 and 25 lbs slam ball! (The 25lbs one was busted, too. 🤷‍♂️)

I’m a very big fan of explosive slam exercises and members of the gym will often see me performing them with my clients in the gym. Slam balls, IMO, are part of regular gym costs that you will eventually have to replace, just like bands. I usually just buy the mid-level ones on Amazon, as these things need replaced every two years, and the Rogue ones cost over double of the pretty decent quality ones on Amazon.

Next up is our new endless rope rack attachment. I’ve been storing this guy in the equipment room on the hanging hooks, but it’s easy to put up and take down from any of the racks. This is a much cheaper option than the Torque endless rope or other full rope machine, but still works quite well! The intensity doesn’t max out nearly as hard as the upgraded Torque rope, but I think it gets the job done with rows and smaller exercises like tricep pushdowns, too.

Hope everyone has a great week!

FBB Blog - Feb. 16, 2026

Couple of changes this past month with bigger pieces of equipment, so this post is more about the operations and the process of switching out some of this stuff.

To start, our new piece of equipment is the Nord Bench Pro located upstairs, and this guy takes the place of a couple of pieces that were here when we originally bought the gym. Seeing as space is absolutely at a premium here at Findlay Barbell, we’ve tried to find ways to increase the utility of each of our pieces of equipment, while also not overpacking the place.

The Nord Bench fills the need for a back extension, Nordic hamstring curl, and for the standard glute ham raise, and it offers a lot of different options to adjust the bench, the feet, and regress/progress the angles for each exercise. The company claims the ability to do a lot of other exercises, but these are kind of fillers and not exactly needed for this machine (ex. doing a dip on this thing is pretty redundant when our gym carries much better options for that exercise), but back extension and Nordics are going to be fantastic on this!

Hope everyone has a great week! 💪

FBB Blog - January 28th, 2026

Couple of new smaller pieces over the last few weeks that I wanted to highlight in our newest blog post! A lot of the members at FBB have interest in not only the gym itself for its purpose (fitness, powerlifting, etc), but also have an interest in the equipment itself. Me too! I keep trying to improve the gym and offer a variety of equipment for everyone.

First up is the new Spud Inc. Gorilla Grips and the Comfort Rope. The Gorilla handles are made for finger grips Without the use of the thumb and also bend, which puts a lot of strain on the finger and hands different from common handles.

Spud’s version of a gym rope is next. This rubber/plastic “rope” offers another rope variety that also lets you wipe it down. This was the main reason for them inventing this product - as a direct alternative to the standard gym rope often used for tricep pushdowns, curls, etc. It takes a little getting used to, but I like it overall so far.

Next is our dual pulley, which was made by my friend Logan Haselman. Logan is the owner of Firehouse Fitness in Ottawa, OH and often makes homemade pieces for his gym, and made us one as well! These things sell for way too much on places like Rogue or EliteFTS, and all of the pieces are usually available at your local hardware store. Add your favorite grips to the end and you’ve got a dual pulley (or just a long handle if you just want to use double).

Last small item to showcase today is our new small utility boxes. I got these things on Amazon for a whole bunch of reasons! They’re called Pilates Moon Boxes and made by Balanced Body, a company that specializes in yoga and Pilates equipment. I use them personally for myself and clients with exercises like pushups, planking and core rows, and I’ve seen members use them for all kinds of reasons as well. Easy buy and easy upgrade for all gyms IMO.

Our new Nordic Bench/Back Extension should be arriving this week!

Stay warm and drive safe! ❄️❄️❄️

Happy New Year!

Couple of small updates and pieces at the gym to end out the year. We also have a few bigger items on the way (and maybe a few leaving the gym as well).

New pieces:

Chain hangers - I’ve been wanting to add these for a bit to get those chains off the floor. Previously they were in a small crate next to our deadlift platforms, but it was kind of frustrating to sort through a bucket of chains to get the ones you want. Now they are much easier to access and store. Plus it looks cool. :)

I ended up getting these from a company called French Fitness online. The Instagram ad got me on that one, but it was a great deal compared to other companies. (Rogue’s was triple the price!)

Weighted Pin - A handy addition to our weight stacks. Each of our Rogue cable towers is in stacks of 10lbs and this pin gives the ability to add just by 5lbs. You can use the pin by itself as the addition (the pin weighs 5lbs), and you also have the ability to add weight to the pin as well. It’s able to hold up to 100lbs! The lat pulldown maxes at 300lbs, so you can essentially go up to a 400lbs lat pull with this pin. Or you could do a 95lbs cable pushdown.

Couple of new pieces on the way including a new adjustable back extension/ GHD combo, a few new and different Spud Inc. grips and handle!

FBB Blog - December 19th, 2025

This is my first blog post for the gym! Kind of using this as a way to reach out to the community on things happening at the gym, things that might be on the way, and also as a great way to journal and inspire new ideas. I personally find a lot of value in writing things down, so hopefully sharing a bit more of them can help some other people, too!

December 19th, 2025:

New edition this month has been the Torque M3 Sled! I originally got the idea for this upgrade based on a few things; the sleds suck when used out back in the heat (the asphalt is almost gooey) and the sled also sucks inside when it rains (concrete underneath sweating). This fixes both of those problems!

This thing is a tank, allowing multiple push, pull, and carry options. It comes with straps already and the bars lock into an upright position, and also detach to be fit into a wheelbarrow position for carries. The ability to change gears for intensity makes it much easier to add sled pushes or pulls into your workout with minimal setup, as well. Looking forward to the warmup months and taking this thing outside!

_____

Couple of new things coming this month:

  • A new NordBench Pro will be in very soon and will be taking the place of both of the Rogue Oblique Flex Pro and the Rogue Nordic Bench. The ability to adjust for not only, but also for angles and regression/progression will be great!

  • A chain holder is going to be installed when it comes in to help organize and better access those chains that I absolutely LOVE hearing. 😀

Take care and happy holidays!
